Monday Roundup: Tootoo gone and Preds extend offers
Monday was a busy day and I felt that I should put all the Monday news and clump it together. There were two big stories today. One is involving fan favorite, Jordin Tootoo and the other involves David Poile extending qualifying offers. Read all the news after the jump.
According to News1130 Sports in Vancouver, Kevin Epp, Jordin Tootoo's agent, confirms that Tootoo will hit the free agent market. Also, Epp went on to say there is no deal between the Jordin Tootoo party and the Nashville Predators.
Reportedly, David Poile offered Tootoo a three year "sizable" deal in which he declined.
Yes, it is quite unfortunate that one of the most likeable guys in Nashville will be leaving the team. But, this is a business. Poile had to let him go. Smashville, if you are upset that Tootoo is leaving, get over it. Do you want to win a Stanley Cup? Then, we have to let people go who can't get us there.
Jordin Tootoo was upset at the end of the season because of the lack of playing time. Tootoo was scratched often, and didn't like it. The only reason he was scratched was because there were better players on the team than him. Not shocked at all that he leaves.
It is very unfortunate that Tootoo will not a Predator anymore. To be honest, he was my favorite player. I had a Tootoo jersey and shirt. Very sad day, but his play wasn't up to par.
Also today, David Poile sent ten restricted free agents a qualifying offer. Here is the list of players.
