NHL cancels preseason games
The National Hockey League announced Wednesday afternoon that they have cancelled 2012 preseason games through September 30. Many players that are either in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Juniors, etc. do not like this news.
The NHL preseason is quite different to the National Football League's and National Basketball Association's preseasons. In the NHL, players all over the world at any age are trying to make the pro team. Players who fans really don't get to see often.
Preseason game results don't matter in the NBA and NFL. One could say it doesn't matter in the NHL as well. But the players have to work very hard to get at least a look from the general managers.
Cancelling these preseason games hurt the chances of seeing Predators' prospects like Austin Watson, Taylor Beck, Michael Latta, Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis to make the NHL. Preseason gives the players time to adjust to the fast-paced North American, and NHL, game.
There are five Nashville Predators games cancelled so far.
